DANBURY MAYOR URGES RESIDENTS TO ASSIST IN RELIEF FOR HAITI EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS
In the wake of the devastation brought by the earthquake in Port Au Prince, Haiti on Tuesday, January 12th, Mayor Mark Boughton is urging residents who can help, to do so monetarily by donating to organizations that have proven to be vital in assisting in crisis situations.
Mayor Boughton explained, “I am calling on the Danbury community to show their support for the victims affected by the destruction and despair that has affected Haiti. I urge Danbury residents to do their part now by donating monetarily to organizations that have already begun the relief process.”
A few of many assistance organizations that you may consider donating to include:
American Red Cross:
To donate: Go to RedCross.org, hit donate now button at top and then International Response Fund.
You also can text "Haiti" to 90999 to donate $10 to the International Response Fund. The money will go directly to relief efforts in Haiti.
Phoning in a donation can also be made by call 1-800-Red-Cross.
AmeriCares
To donate: Go to AmeriCares.org. Donations will go toward medicine and medical supplies and for expenses for providing that medical aid.

United Way
To donate: Go to www.uwwesternct.org. Donations will go to the United Way Disaster Fund which will assist United Way efforts to address the educational, financial and health-related challenges that arise when disasters devastate communities.
