Risk Management is a Division of the Finance Department. Our mission is to promote the safety and health of city employees, minimize damage and injury claims, ensure public safety, and administer quality and cost effective employee benefits.
The Risk Management Division’s responsibilities have grown to include more than just administering and providing affordable comprehensive insurance coverage for claims associated with general liability, workers compensation, health, life, dental, and disability, we also promote safety and health programs for city employees. Our office helps minimize injury claims and ensures public safety by regularly conducting safety inspections, safety committee meetings, and training sessions.
Our accomplishments:
Cost saving measures that do not impact the quality of programs we provide are reviewed every year. Recently we were successful in saving the city approximately $950,000off of our employee medical coverage while maintaining the same level of benefits.
Risk Management continues to coordinate numerous safety training workshops to reduce potential claims. These programs have aided in keeping liability premiums level, even though we were able to decrease last year’s premium of $231,000, while adding coverage for new buildings and properties.
