The mission of the Danbury Police Department is to provide an environment for the people of Danbury that is free from the fear of crime, where people can enjoy a high quality of life, and the entire community can prosper. The Danbury Police Department executes its mission from a new state-of-the-art 75,000 square foot headquarters building on Main Street in downtown Danbury. We employ a fleet of over 100 vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats and specialty vehicles to patrol the 44 square miles under our protection.
Despite all the modern equipment and technology, it is our people that make our organization great. Our employees are involved in the community both on and off duty. Our managers and supervisors are system thinkers, responsive to the constantly changing needs of the community. It is the dedicated men and women in uniform of the Danbury Police Department who patrol our streets 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. It is the hard working plain-clothes detectives who work long and tedious hours to solve our most difficult crimes and bring those responsible to justice. It is the staff in Records, Administration, and Professional Standards who provide the best possible support to our field operations.
Our accomplishments:
It is the collective effort and unwavering dedication of our employees who consistently make Danbury the safest large city in Connecticut.
Partnerships also make the difference for our organization and contribute to our high level of community trust and support. We enjoy an enviable level of support from our public safety partners. These include firefighters, EMTs and Public Works employees. The winter of 2010-11 was exceptionally difficult and Public Works did a great job of keeping our streets open.
We at the Danbury Police Department are proud of our past. Our headquarters building is named in honor of Florence B. Sullivan, the first Danbury Police Officer killed in the line of duty in 1896. We also look forward to the future as we implement cost savings, business processes, and industry-standard practices through accreditation. We look forward to installing the latest computer technology through the Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) suite of software upgrades to keep our organization the best law enforcement agency in Connecticut.
