Director's Report:

The Health & Human Services Department offers many services for the Danbury community. Divisions within the Department work on all aspects of public & environmental health.

Our accomplishments:

The Health & Human Services Department made significant strides in increasing access to health care for children and adolescents through the continued administration of the city’s three school-based health centers located on the grounds of Danbury High School, Rogers Park Middle School, and Broadview Middle School. In addition to offering comprehensive medical and mental health care services to enrolled students, grant funding from the State of CT Department of Social Services enabled our health center staff to treat “the whole child” through on-site preventive and restorative dental care at all three locations.

The Department assisted the Danbury Housing Partnership in making considerable progress with the implementation of the recommendations in Danbury’s Ten-Year Plan To End Homelessness.  The Partnership’s fourth annual report was submitted to the City Council in April of 2011 highlighting the establishment of the annual Danbury Housing Partnership awards presented at the Partnership’s annual Community Breakfast.

The Department and the Housing Authority of the City of Danbury continue to collaborate on the Neighborhood Stabilization Program to receive funding for the acquisition and repurposing of foreclosed properties in Danbury to assist families who are in desperate need of housing.
