American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 Stimulus Grant
About us:
The Danbury Municipal Airport sits on approximately 250 acres of property. The Aviation Commission, under the leadership of Chairman John Ashkar, along with Commissioners Baker, Opperman, Zilinek and Frizzell oversee the standards for lease and/or use of the municipal airport, and the current and future planning of the field. The Commission also issues permits and works closely with the Airport Administrator.
Our accomplishments:
During the summer of 2009 The Danbury Municipal Airport received a Federal Stimulus Grant of $350,000.00. Part of the grant was used to conduct an Obstruction Analysis Phase 2 Study of the airport, which has now been completed.
With funding from the same grant, we are continuing to update the Wildlife Plan for the airport with work being done by the United States Department Agriculture.
We have also received a Federal and State Grant to Purchase a Rotary Class II Snow Blower. The Federal government provided us with $384,475.00 of grant funds and the State of Connecticut provided us with another $15,177. The City of Danbury matched a portion of the grants by allocating $5,059 to the airport.
Currently we are awaiting additional Federal and State grants to complete the rehabilitation of a portion of the "C" and "B" Taxiways.
